Of major interest are the plans of buildings and furniture designed for Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, their friends, and related institutions, such as the Warm Springs Foundation in Meriwether Co., GA. There are drawings of Val-Kill and the Factory Building in New York State. Over 50 letters to Toombs by the Roosevelts have been copied and interfiled in the general correspondence.

Letters from Dumas, Miles, and Kemp Malone to their parents concerning their experiences in the service during World War I and other letters. Dumas Malone, a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps, writes about signaling, training, rifle drill, visits to Randolph Macon Woman's College, to Philadelphia and to New York with future architect Henry Johnston Toombs. Miles Malone, a second lieutenant with the Allied Expeditionary Forces, describes the 23rd Infanatry's arrival in France and march through France, Belgium and Luxembourg to Germany, patrol duty in a neutral zone the decoration of the 23rd for Soissons, being billeted in German homes and travelling to an Army football game. Kemp Malone writes about choosing between the National Guard and the Army and publication of an article. Three later letters, 1948-1953, mention his work as a philologist.

The series consists of files of Eitel Bauer from ca. 1940-1985. The files contain correspondence, subject files, surveyor's fieldbooks, boundary surveys, topographical maps, and architectural records all documenting Bauer's role in developing various land holdings of Cason J. Callaway. The files primarily reflect Bauer's involvement in the development of Callaway Gardens (Pine Mountain, Ga.) from the 1940s-1985 and construction of the Gardens' major facilities, Blue Springs Farms (Hamilton, Harris County, Ga.), the Harris County (Ga.) Airport, and his work in selecting and propagating superior pine trees. A few items pre-date Bauer's association with Callaway including construction records for the Callaway's Blue Springs estate (Harris County, Ga.) by Ivey and Crook, principal architects of the lodge and works of other architects including John Leon Hoffman and Henry J. Toombs; maps and drawings prepared by the Callaway Mill Engineering Dept.; and material on the development of Callaway's Troup County (Ga.) property, particularly Piney Woods subdivision in LaGrange (Ga.).
