"The Ursuline College Alumnae Association is a dedicated group that promotes continued affiliation with the college by sponsoring events throughout the year that focus on the social, professional, spiritual, and educational development of both alumnae and students. In addition, the Association partners with a variety of academic departments to provide continuing enrichment activities. The Alumnae Association awards the Gonzaga Medal to a senior student each year and the Amadeus Rappe Award, Crystal Award, Distinguished Nursing Alumna Award (in partnership with the Breen School of Nursing), Distinguished Social Work Alumna Award (given every other year in partnership with the Social Work Department), and Distinguished Educator Alumna award (in partnership with the Education unit). In 1983 it was decided by nursing faculty that Ursuline College should have its own chapter of Sigma Theta Tau to honor outstanding graduates of the nursing program. As required by Sigma Theta Tau, a College Honor Society for Nursing was begun. After three years of operation an application for the establishment of an official chapter of Sigma Theta Tau was submitted and accepted. Ursuline College was awarded a chapter, the 237th, to be designated Iota Psi, at the Biennial Convention of the organization in November 1987 in San Francisco, California.

The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland closed St. John College in 1975, and its Center for Nursing, accredited since 1951, was transferred to Ursuline College. During the 1986-87 academic year, the name of the academic unit was changed to the Division of Nursing with a chairperson as leader of the program. At the beginning of the 1998-99 academic year, Ursuline College changed the name of the program to the Breen School of Nursing in honor of donors John and Mary Jane Breen. The Breen School of Nursing has a history of a strong baccalaureate degree nursing program and in 1998 added a master's degree program. The Breen School of Nursing is fully approved and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Ohio Board of Nursing.

"Two important areas that impact outreach to constituents are the areas of the Business Office and the Department of Human Resources. The finance office interacts with all employees, students and vendors, banks and auditors in providing financial information. Facilities Operations and Management oversees the following areas: security, telecommunications, the mailroom, housekeeping, buildings and grounds, maintenance, and the print shop. The areas of housekeeping, landscaping, and parts of security are outsourced.

The Education Unit's Mission is to prepare teachers who will meet the needs of their students and the communities that they serve.
Ursuline is approved for completing the requirements necessary for State Licensure. The College has built a reputation on its commitment to excellence in responding to the needs of teacher preparation for career and other opportunities.
In addition to the program leading to a baccalaureate degree, the Education Unit of Ursuline College offers programs leading to State Licensure for individuals currently degreed, renewal of certificates/licenses already held, curriculum leading to the Master of Arts degree, Early Childhood (4-5) Endorsement and the Reading Endorsement.
