The James Calvin Nichols materials include correspondence (1932-1962), much of it with his lawyer, Milward L. Simpson of Cody; legal documents (1903-1949); and reminiscences, mostly concerning hunting trips. There are also four audio cassette tapes of oral history interviews conducted by Lola M. Homsher.

Title: James G. Watt papers, 1958-2005, (bulk 1963-1983)

The James G. Watt Papers consist mostly of material related to his political career in Washington D.C., which dated from 1962 through 1983. The bulk of these materials relate to his time as Director of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, as Commissioner of the Federal Power Commission, and as the Secretary of the Interior. Files regarding these positions include correspondence, travel vouchers, itineraries, speeches, magazine and newspaper clippings, video and audio recordings, scrapbooks, reports, bound printed matter, and photographs. A large portion of this material is related to the Secretary of the Interior including his resignation. Other material covers his time when he served Wyoming Senator Milward Simpson, when he was with the Water and Power Resources, and with the Mountain States Legal Foundation. There is a small amount of material related to his activities after resigning from the Secretary of the Interior in 1983, and there are several files containing personal and family material including letters, documents, and photographs.

The general correspondence files are one of many series in the papers of this Wyoming U.S. Senator who served from 1959-1977. Files were created during McGee's senatorial tenure and contain correspondence with the general public, political officials and organizations along with a few speeches and personal letters. McGee correspondents include members of Wyoming's congressional delegation, members of the press, the Democratic National Committee, Young Democratic Clubs of America, and his Wyoming constituents. The letters were written in response to McGee's positions on federal pensions, the Vietnam War, Yellowstone National Park, Unesco, the Watergate scandal and President Nixon's possible impeachment. McGee also received a considerable amount of letters from members of the John Birch Society and other right-wing organizations.

Title: Bob Wakefield papers, 1911-2006.

The Bob Wakefield Papers consist of subject files, photo files, and audio-visual materials that Bob Wakefield gathered or created to write three non-fiction books. "Trail of the Jackasses" (1968) is about Jean DeHaven and his mule wagon trip across the United States. "Schwiering and the West" (1973) is about noted Wyoming artist Conrad Schwiering, who lived in Jackson and spent much of his time painting scenes of the Teton Range. "Milward L. Simpson: the Fiery Petrel" (2005) is a biography of Milward Simpson who was Wyoming's governor in the 1950s and a U.S. senator in the 1960s. Also contained in the collection are the personal papers of Bob Wakefield. These files mostly relate to his career as a journalism professor at several universities, and as a broadcast journalist. Several biographical and photo files are included, and there are numerous unpublished short stories of his as well as unpublished motion-picture documentaries.

Photo CDs contain constituent, personal, and press photographs. Oversized photos include a photo album given to Simpson by the U.S. Border Patrol. There are also negatives from the Senate photo studio. Of special note is a slide show of Lt. Col. Oliver North's briefing on Central America before the Iran-Contra Committee.

The series also contains materials gathered by Simpson's aunt, Doris Kooi Reynolds, which include clippings about Simpson's senate activities and Peter Simpson's campaign for Wyoming governor as well as correspondence, photographs, and a history of the Kooi family.
