Marshall, Harold, 1919-. Papers [manuscript].

Title: Papers [manuscript]. 1909-1995.

Diaries and papers relating to the early life and diplomatic career of Harold Marshall. The collection contains two diaries covering the period from 1937-1941, which include some discussion of the war from the homefront, ending soon after Marshall joined the A.I.F. in 1941. The papers also contain photocopies of three letters written by Marshall while he was in the A.I.F. (two in 1943 and one in 1945), a dinner menu signed by Eleanor Roosevelt (1951) and a note from Eleanor Roosevelt (1952), three letters from R.C. Casey and four from Maie Casey, and material relating to the bust of Lord Casey sculpted by John Dowie. Other material includes papers and photographs further illustrating Marshall's autobiography, "The cliff ... before and after" (1995), a copy of which is also held with the collection.
