Diplomat. Born in 1919, he attended Broken Hill High School before winning a scholarship to Sydney University (1939-1941). From 1941-1946 he served in the A.I.F., then joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and served in numerous overseas posts. These included New York 1949-1953; private secretary to the Rt. Hon. R.G. Casey 1953-1955; Seoul 1955-1957; London 1959-1961; Karachi 1962; Bangkok 1966-1967; Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka 1972-1975 and Australian Consul-General Los Angeles 1975-1976. He retired in 1979 and received the Order of Australia in 1980.
