The Tamiment/Wagner Moving Images Collection represents the core motion picture film collection of the Tamiment Library and Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives. It includes the film archives of the Transport Workers Union of America, a labor union founded in 1934 to organize subway workers and bus drivers in the New York City area that later included taxi drivers, railway employees, airline workers and utility workers in locals across the country; films and film footage from District 65/UAW , another labor union formed in New York City (in 1933) that organized warehouse workers, later expanding to include workers from the retail and manufacturing sectors, clerical personnel, salesclerks, writers, editors, technicians, and lawyers, include large numbers of women; a complete film, Nos Maisons d'Enfants, from the Jewish Labor Committee, a New York-based umbrella group of Jewish or Jewish-led trade unions and fraternal organizations, founded in 1934 to organize anti-Nazi and anti-fascist activity and to provide assistance to European Jews and others persecuted by these movements; footage shot by still photographer John Albok (1894-1982), known for his images of children and New York City street life during the Depression, who also documented organized labor and left-radical political life in New York City; and early footage of Camp Tamiment, a summer resort for socialists, in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, that opened in 1921. The remainder of the materials in the Collection come from various other labor and radical organizations. Together, they comprise approximately 40 hours of black and white and color 16mm motion picture film (and one 35mm film) which have been transferred to video for research use. They document activities and history of the labor movement and radical left or progressive organizations, mostly in New York City (although Philadelphia, Barcelona, Geneva, and a few locations in France are also represented. Most were produced by or for labor, left or progressive organizations and associated individuals in the United States. The Collection includes a dozen documentary films and a similar number each of television programs and filmed press conferences, but the largest proportion of materials by far consists of outtakes and edited sequences from these productions; a small amount of stock footage shot, acquired for, or associated with, these productions and unedited footage not associated with them.

Photographs show Mayor Barr along with Presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson; Gen. Park Chunghu, the President of South Korea; Vice President Hubert Humphrey (one print is signed by Humphrey); US Attorney General Robert Kennedy; Gov. Adlai Stevenson of Illinois; four Governors of Pennsylvania (George Leader, Raymond Shaffer, David Lawrence, and Robert Casey); seven mayors of major U.S. cities (John Lindsay of New York, Richard Dayley of Chicago, Jim Tate of Philadelphia, Raymond Tuker of St. Louis, Jerry Cavanaugh of Detroit, Robert Wagner of St. Paul, and Neal Blaisdell of Honolulu); and several local figures (Congressmen William Morehead and Jim Fulton, State Representative K. Leroy Irvis, Judges Ruggero Aldisert and John Brosky, and John Cardinal Wright). The back of the each includes the person, place, date, etc. The case file contains several of the letters conveying the photographs to Mayor Barr.

Atlanta Gas Light Company. Atlanta Gas Light Company records, 1849-2002.

This collection contains agreements, annual reports, bonds, contracts, financial records, journals, ledgers, mortgages, photographs, registers, and resolutions of several gas companies in Georgia administered by the Atlanta Gas Light Company including Athens Gas Light and Fuel Company; Consumers Gas and Coke Company in Waycross; Georgia Public Utilities Company divisions in Augusta, Griffin, and Rome; Macon Gas Company; Savannah Gas Company; Savannah-St. Augustine Gas Company; Southern Atlantic Gas Company; United Gas Improvement Company; and Valdosta Gas Company. The records date from 1849 to 2002. Many of the records in this collection were used by the Atlanta Gas Light Company during a law suit to recoup funds from companies affiliated with Savannah Gas Company during environmental remediation of the Savannah Gas Company facility. The Savannah Gas Company was located in Trustees' Garden (bordered by East Bay, East Broad, Randolph, and East Broughton streets and General McIntosh Boulevard). The site was in operation from 1853 to 1953 and was the first Manufactured Gas Plant in Georgia. Environmental clean-up of the site was completed in 2005. Notes and colored paper left by the attorneys remain in many of the ledgers. Environmental remediation also took place at the following other facilities: Athens (in use 1860-1930), Augusta (in use 1852-1954), Griffin (in use 1915-1930), Macon (in use mid 1850s-1950s), Rome (in use circa 1860-1930), Valdosta (in use 1906-1945), and Waycross (in use 1916-1953). Also included are scrapbooks of the Savannah Gas Light Company, Savannah Chamber of Commerce, and South Atlantic Gas Company, as well as James H. Tate's research files, drafts, reviews, and correspondence on the book, Keeper of the Flame: the Story of Atlanta Gas Light Company, 1856-1985 published in 1985 by the Atlanta Gas Light Company.

The 86 interviews in this collection were done between 1963 and 1984. They represent interviews conducted by Michael P. Weber in carrying out the research for his work, Don't Call Me Boss: David L. Lawrence, Pittsburgh's Renaissance Mayor (Pittsburgh: University of Pittsburgh Press, 1988) or interviews gathered from other collections to which M.P. Weber had access. In this latter category are the interviews conducted by Father Thomas Donaghy which are on deposit at the LaSalle College Oral History Collection in Philadelphia and those conducted by various interviewers for the Stanton Balfour Pittsburgh Renaissance Oral History Project, AIS 1973:24, held by the Archives Service Center, University Library System, University of Pittsburgh. The interviews are listed in alphabetical order and include the date of the interview. Information about the number of pages for each transcript and the name of the interviewer are available at the Archives Service Center.
