21 typed manuscripts (453 leaves) are Browne's papers and speeches delivered before the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Chemical Society of Washington, and other organizations, and discuss the history of chemistry, alchemy, agricultural chemistry, the sugar industry, and pharmaceutical history (Box 1, Folders 1-22). Some were published and are in bound pamphlets in the Edgar Fahs Smith Collection. Journals are typed and collected in 5 binders: "Record of Chemical and Agricultural Observations in Foreign Countries," Volumes 1-10, 1929-1930 (bound in 2 volumes, 1862 pp. with index) covers a trip through Europe, Eygpt, Palestine, Greece, and Turkey (Boxes 2-3); "Journal of C. A. Browne's trip to Australia..." to attend the Congress of the International Society of Sugar Cane Technologists, held in Brisbane, Australia, 1935 (1 volume, 472 pp. with index) also reports on his visits to Hawaii, Samoa, the Figi Islands and New Zealand (Box 4); and "Record of Chemical and Agricultural Observations in Foreign Countries 1938 (bound in 2 volumes, 391 pp. with index) describes a trip through England, Scotland, France, and the northern European countries (Box 5). "Chapters in the Early History of Agricultural Chemistry, revised," (639 pp. plus 6 pp. added in, n.d.) is the typed ms. for Browne's Sourcebook of Agricultural Chemistry (Box 6).
