Correspondence, journals, photographs, business records, school records, club proceedings, and ephemera, documenting Wright's life and the social and political climate of Cambridge, Mass., in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Personal records (chiefly dating from the 1860s) reflect the private life of Wright. Journals speak of his schooling and occurrences at his father's bakery and include journal kept by William Wright (1852-1855), an account book kept by George Wright on a trip to Europe (1863); correspondence chiefly pertains to municipal causes with which Wright was concerned but also include correspondence of William Wright during his European travels and sent to his son George and letters from Lucius Page, author of The History of Cambridge Massachusetts; schooling sub-series (1860-1863) documents Wright's high school career and includes lesson book, certificates, essays written by Wright or his siblings, and records of graduation; writings sub-series contains essays, published articles, speeches, and notes by Wright, chiefly written from 1921-1922, focusing on Cambridge history and local issues such as the Concord River, the first city hall, public schools, and the town water supply; and scrapbooks including scrapbooks created by Wright and memorial scrapbooks created after the deaths of his father William Wright and sister Helen Wright, including clippings and other materials regarding the deaths of other family members. Clubs series contains by-laws, annual reports, correspondence, reports, scrapbooks, photographs, minutes, and other records (incomplete) of numerous clubs from various years to which Wright and other family members belonged including Cambridge Historical Society, Cantabrigia Club, Harvard Square Business Men's Association and its successor Harvard Square Business Association, Library Hall Association and its successor Cambridge Taxpayers' Association, the Masons, Christ Church, and National Municipal League, the bulk of the series pertaining to HSBMA and LHA. Collected ephemera contains collected items including city of Cambridge municipal reports pertaining to poll taxes, traffic regulations, elections, and the city water supply as well as other documents regarding business, social, and social work organizations; business records reflect Wright's career as real estate manager, including volumes of renter's accounts and rental information; and photographs reflecting the entire collection, but many relate to the Harvard Square Business Men's Association and its efforts to remove overhead electrical wires in Cambridge (1922-1923). Family photographs are also included. When known the photographer's name and description of the subject of the photograph is given.
