Variant namesBorn Mary Isabella James in Burlington, N.J., later moved to Cambridge, Mass.; later studied painting and languages in Europe where she met her husband Silvio de Gozzaldi, a captain in the Austrian army; they moved to Switzerland and had three children; later moved to Cambridge, Mass., where they settled permanently; known as Mary Gozzaldi, she was very interested in American history and genealogy and was a founder and vice president of Cambridge Historical Society and an active member of the Hannah Winthrop Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
