Alumnae Biographical Files primarily contain biographical questionnaires, correspondence, articles and other publications, press releases, and notes documenting the lives of Mount Holyoke alumnae.. Also include diaries, letters, notebooks, and other personal materials for these individuals, often describing their experiences as students. Topics discussed by alumnae in these materials include their personal lives and employment in teaching, missionary work, and other fields. There is also extensive information about the curriculum, teachers and administrators (including Mary Lyon), regulations, schedules, expenses, domestic work system, books and reading, exercise and physical education program, religious life, traditions, Thanksgiving and other holiday celebrations, food, care of clothing, and buildings and grounds at Mount Holyoke.

Ferguson, Elizabeth Tuttle, 1861-1952. Papers, 1881-1952 1884-1925.

Title: Papers, 1881-1952 1884-1925.

The Elizabeth Tuttle Ferguson Papers contain correspondence, compositions, albums, memorabilia, biographical information and photographs dating from 1881 to 1952. Of particular significance are compositions written 1881-1884 while she was a student at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary. Also of note are two photograph albums compiled by Edmund Otis Hovey and an album of postcards. The Hovey albums chiefly contain photographs taken on the islands of St. Vincent and Martinique after the eruption of Mount Pelée in 1902 and subsequent volcanic activity in 1903. They also contain four photographs of volcanic activity in Guadeloupe and St. Kitts, five photographs of people and scenery in France, a photograph of a horse-drawn wagon labeled "Russian transportation", and one labeled "King Edward visits Vienna" all dating from 1903. Most of the postcards reflect Ferguson's travels in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C., Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Michigan, Indiana, and visits to Niagara Falls and the International Exposition in Chicago in 1934. Her correspondence consists of letters and cards to and from staff members of the Mount Holyoke College Alumnae Association. Rounding out the collection are a graduation pin and fan relating to the Mount Holyoke Class of 1884, biographical forms and clippings, and several photographs of Ferguson taken between 1884 and 1934.

Include Creighton's published writings, biographical information about her, and records relating to her inauguration; records of the Presidential Search Committee, the Operational Policy Committee, and the Senior Staff; correspondence by and about students, trustees, faculty, alumnae, and colleagues; subject files that in part reflect Mount Holyoke's association with the Women's College Coalition and Five Colleges, Inc.; records relating to a student protest at the College in 1997 and to the reorganization of the Alumnae Association between 2000-2002; and materials concerning the claim made by Mount Holyoke history professor Joseph J. Ellis that he served in the military during the Vietnam War.

Dakin, Janet Wilder. Papers, 1931-1995.

The Janet Wilder Dakin Papers consist of course records, writings, Christianna Smith Retirement Gift Fund Records, Parliamentarian's Records for the Alumnae Association of Mount Holyoke College, Mount Holyoke College Equestrian Center Steering Comm. Records, biographical information, and photographs. Course records reflect Dakin's course work in art and zoology while an undergraduate at Mount Holyoke; they consist of studio work, notes, and laboratory drawings, 1931-32. Course records from the University of Chicago (1936-ca. 1939) include a paper and a notebook with research data on Elodea and yeast. Dakin's writings include publications on insect life, 1936-1940; a book review, 1938; an autobiographical sketch, ca. 1976; and a class letter written for the 50th reunion of Mount Holyoke College Class of 1933. The Christianna Smith Retirement Gift Fund Records contain detailed financial records for the Fund, honoring a member of the Mount Holyoke faculty. The Parliamentarian's Records reflect her work as Parliamentarian for the Alumnae Association of Mount Holyoke, 1967-1976, and include her reviews of various Association documents as well as a job description for the Parliamentarian. The Mount Holyoke College Equestrian Center Steering Committee Records consist of plans, progress reports, agendas, and correspondence relating to the planning and construction of an equestrian center at the College, 1983-1986. The biographical information (1933-1995) consists chiefly of newspaper clippings; they concern Dakin's engagement, marriage, environmental work, awards, donation of property to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, her book "Jeffy's Journal", and her death. The photographs consist of two copies of her senior photograph taken at Mount Holyoke in 1933, and a formal photograph, ca. 1975.
