The Willis M. Hawkins Papers, 1920-2009 (80 boxes) document the successful aerospace engineering career of Hawkins at Lockheed, the relationships between industry, military, and government, and the development of airplanes, missile systems, and space vehicles during the second half of the 20th century. Effort was made to maintain the original order in which the collection arrived at The Huntington Library and the arrangement reflects Hawkins' organization of materials largely by subject, project, or organization. The bulk of collection materials date from the 1950s to the early 1990s and consists of correspondence, memoranda, presentation and meeting materials, reports, blueprints, clippings, speeches, writings, and ephemera. The collection is especially rich in correspondence; in addition to Hawkins' incoming and outgoing correspondence is the copied correspondence of other Lockheed executives with whom Hawkins worked closely during his tenure. Hawkins' involvement in consulting and professional organizations was often in conjunction with his role at Lockheed, and researchers should thus be aware that materials are often dispersed through the series. For example, materials related to specific committees are frequently represented in both the Correspondence and Consulting Files Series.

Anderson Papers, 1909-1995 (10 boxes) document the career and life of Anderson during the second half of the twentieth century, and the early history of Lockheed Corporation from the early 1900s into the 1990s. The collection is divided into two series, Lockheed Corporation and Personal, with the bulk of materials concentrated in the Lockheed Corporation series. The bulk of the collection consists of photographs, correspondence, clippings, and ephemera. The collection is especially rich in photographic prints of early Lockheed aircraft, employees, and customers. The collection is small; as such, it does not document the detailed activities of the Lockheed Corporation.

Engineer Rex Ridenoure talks about his interest in space science as a youth, and how it guided his education. He also describes his employment at Hughes Aircraft, Lockheed Missiles & Space Co., Northern Utah Satellite, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Prior to working at JPL, his jobs at Hughes and Northern Utah Satellites involved development of communication satellites. At JPL, he worked for Charles Kohlhase in the Voyager Mission Planning Group from September 1986 through July 1997, which included the period of the Voyager spacecraft's encounter with Neptune.

This collection describes the various phases of research and development of spacecraft from the early 1950's into the early 1970's. It includes various documents authored by Raggio as well as documents collected by him and saved as relevant to his career. They include materials from the Re-Entry Test Vehicle (RTV) Project, Project Deal (Explorer), Ranger Project, Mariner Mars '69 Project, and various other JPL items. The collection focuses on spacecraft hardware drawings, early phases of spacecraft research and development, along with presentations by William Pickering and Eberhardt Rechtin about the early years of space exploration. The files are arranged first by three generic types: paper materials, photographs, and published items. The paper materials are in turn arranged with Raggio-authored items first, then by Project and then within each Project, in chronological sequence. The photographs are arranged in ascending JPL Still Image Negative Number order. The published items are arranged by Project.

This interview examines Krasue's early career at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) first as a physicist, then as Associate Director fo Research. Also covered is his work at Lockheed, at Systems Research Corporation, and at Ford Aeronuetronics. After detailing aspects of his early life and education (University of Wisconsin, PhD, 1938, physics), the interview closely follows Krause's career at NRL, including his involvement with wartime research, spectroscopic research using V-2 cosmic ray research, and his work with the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). Central to the interview is Krause's role as a manager of science, as well as his perceptions of the organizational relationships that evolved to made use of V-2s. Additional topics discussed include: Julian Schwinger, Frank Malina, Fritz Zwicky and his experiments, John Wheeler, Applied Physics Laboratory (Johns Hopkins), and the original Wasserfall rockets.
