The Charles E. Feinberg Collection contains about 160 letters and cards, the majority of which are Joyce's correspondence with London literary agent James B. Pinker, who began working with Joyce in 1915. The correspondence with Pinker documents Joyce's efforts to publish a number of his works, and to get existing works published in the United States. The collection also includes a copy of the 1927 International Protest against Samuel Roth's unauthorized publication of sections of Ulysses. Five names, written in pen, have been added to the long typed list of supporters of the protest and the voting record of the London Stage Society's governing board, which considered and rejected Joyce's Exiles for production in July of 1916. In addition to the Pinker correspondence are letters to Joyce from B.W. Huebsch and Lawrence Pollinger, James Stephens, Frank Budgen, T. Sturge Moore, James Starkey, Nora Joyce, and Paul Léon. There are also three letters, one from Caresse Crosby to J.W.N. Sullivan, one from Sullivan to Crosby, and one from Joyce to Harry and Caresse Crosby.

Crosby, Caresse, 1892-1970. Caresse Crosby collection, 1945-1969.

Title: Caresse Crosby collection, 1945-1969.

This collection consists of correspondence from Harry Thornton Moore to Caresse Crosby from 1945 to 1969. The correspondence includes letters about Moore's role as the Crosby Library executor in which Crosby makes suggestions about where to place the collection. The correspondence also documents Crosby's thoughts about travel, literature, and Moore's biographical projects on D. H. Lawrence. As assistant editor of Crosby's Portfolio: An Intercontinental Quarterly, Moore knew Kay Boyle, and the correspondence includes a letter from Boyle to Moore concerning Boyle's appointment as a lecturer on short stories at the University of Delaware. The series also includes all of the prospectuses for Portfolio: An Intercontinental Quarterly, published by Crosby at the Black Sun Press from 1945-1947.

Consists of letters and telegrams from poet, editor Harry Crosby, 1898-1929, and from his wife Caresse Crosby, 1892-1970, to poet Richard Thoma, 1902- . The letters from Harry Crosby discuss literature, his views on writing, the artist "Alastair," and general topics of mutual interest. The letters and telegrams from Caresse Crosby relate to Thoma's reading proofs of Sterne's A Sentimental Journey for Black Sun Press and to his translations into English of Proust's letters to Walter Berry. Included in the collection is a set of galleys for an article by John Peele, "Letters of Marcel Proust to Walter Berry," and a carbon typescript entitled "Alastair," an appreciation of the artist written by Harry Crosby.

The Caresse Crosby Collection represents the largest extant body of Caresse and Harry Crosby's efforts in prose and poetry, printing and publishing, as well as their personal correspondence and assorted memorabilia. Of special interest is material of 20th century authors, such as a bound volume of letters to Harry and Caresse Crosby from D.H. Lawrence, galley proofs of The Bridge by Hart Crane, an extensive body of correspondence from both Kay Boyle and Ezra Pound, and artwork by Henry Miller. This collection contains all titles published by the Black Sun Press, early Black Sun Press announcements, newsclippings, free-standing volumes, photographs and Caresse Crosby's literary manuscripts, poems, short stories and plays, Caresse Crosby's art work as well as early typescripts of The Passionate Years, and its unpublished sequel, Who in the World. The remainder of the collection consists of packages containing scrapbooks and miscellany, oversized materials that include a great deal of original artwork, Caresse Crosby's appointment calendars, inventories of the Crosby library, address books, miscellaneous documents, and several films. Political materials date from 1948 to her death in 1970.
