Also including indenture, 1 June 1795, Camden District, S.C., for land belonging to estate of William Kershaw, purchased by Samuel Mathis; transfer of title, 20 Feb. 1812, Camden District, S.C., to Henry Hinson Dickson, for land near Camden, S.C.; 2 copies of volume, 26 June 1819, facsimile printing of a letter to Gen. William Richardson Davie, re Battle of Camden; and letter, 14 Nov. 1901, Camden, S.C., from R.M. Kennedy, to Mrs. D.A. Caton, Cheraw, S.C., re appreciation for sending Mathis' Revolutionary War diary.

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of typewritten biographies. Emma J. King's obituary states that she lived for many years in American Fork, Utah, and died at the home of her daughter. Eliza Faulkner Walsh's obituary states that she died at age 86. She was born in Nova Scotia and lived in American Fork, Utah. George T. Baker's obituary states that he was born un 1847, died at age 80 in 1927, and lived in American Fork, Utah. William Kershaw's obituary states that he was born in 1849 and lived in American Fork, Utah.

Records of a machinery manufacturer in Fall River, Mass. The papers consist chiefly of correspondence relative to the building of waterwheels of the Fourneyron type, and the beginnings in Fall River of the manufacture of looms for cotton textile mills by an independent machine company. The firm was known successively as E.C. Kilburn and Company; Kilburn, Lincoln and Son; Kilburn, Lincoln and Company; and Kilburn, Lincoln Machine Company.

Larkin, Courtland P., 1844-1920. Papers and photographs, 1863.

Title: Papers and photographs, 1863.

A poem, written by Mrs. Charles Larkin for her son Courtland Larkin (1st Heavy Artillery and 38th Wisconsin Infantry), expressing her desire for his safety while fighting in the Civil War. The poem was apparently folded and carried by Larkin during the war. A bullet hole, which went through the poem, most likely occurred on June 17, 1864 when Larkin was wounded at Petersburg (Virginia). Also found is a promotional certificate. There are five carte de visite photographs each with bullet damage including photos of William Kershaw, Julia R. Pierce, Phoebe Bumham, and Mrs. Charles Larkin.

The United States Sanitary Commission established the Army and Navy Claim Agency (ANCA) in Washington, D.C. on April 1, 1864 to serve as the USSC’s central office to assist Union soldiers, sailors, and their families in prosecuting claims on the federal government for pensions, back pay, bounty, commutation of rations, prize money, and other benefits, without cost. The Army and Navy Claim Agency Archives comprise the records of the Army and Navy Claim Agency; the records of the Pension Agency, its predecessor organization; the registers and cash books of its subsidiary local agencies; and the records of two quasi-independent USSC claim agencies whose origins predate the establishment of the Army and Navy Claim Agency: the Protective War Claim Association of the State of New York, located in New York City, and the Protective War Claim and Pension Agency, located in Philadelphia.
