Each frame of the microfilm contains three notecards which are type written, with the year and date in the upperleft hand corner and a brief sketch of events. The notes are not detailed, and refer to more complete histories.

Allen, Mark K. (Mark Knight), 1905-. Personal and professional papers, 1907-1985.

Title: Personal and professional papers, 1907-1985.

Contains correspondence, personal and professional papers, printed materials, photographs, and newspaper clippings of Brigham Young University professor of psychology, Mark K. Allen, his mother, Inez Knight Allen, and his grandfather who was a Utah businessman and financier, Jesse Knight. Allen's papers include professional records dealing with the tenure and chairmanship of the Psychology Department at BYU (1946-1975). Papers also deal with Allen as a student and his faculty years at BYU, and his involvement with the Utah State Training School in American Fork, Utah. He was the first Assistant Superintendent and psychologist for that school (1932-1945). For thirty-six years, he served as clinical consultant. Allen was the second psychologist to be licensed in the state of Utah. Also includes 35mm slides; motion picture film; photographic prints and negatives dealing with friends, travel, and vacations; Allen's mission for the Mormon Church in New York City (1927-1928); and the Utah State Training School among other subjects.

Collection contains newspaper pages that feature articles relating to the Jesse Knight family and show the family's impact on the state of Utah socially, politically, and economically. The newspapers come from various Utah publications including the Deseret News, Deseret Evening News, Salt Lake Tribune, Salt Lake Herald, Salt Lake Herald Republican, and Inter-Mountain Republican. They date between 1897 and 1949, with the bulk of them between 1908 and 1910. Newspapers that date before 1921 focus on Jesse Knight's political, philanthropic, social, and professional life, and on Jesse William Knight's political career. The newspapers post-1921 report events regarding Jesse Knight's family, the majority of which are of a social or political nature. Many of the articles refer to Jesse Knight as "Uncle Jesse" and Jesse William Knight as "Cousin Jesse." Besides hard, laminated copies of the newspapers, the collection includes a DVD of 18 scans of the newspapers. All are duplicates and maintain a similar date range to that of the hard copies.

Holograph manuscript in the handwriting of Inez Knight Allen believed to have been dictated by Jesse Knight, her father. This autobiography includes anecdotes about the courtship and marriage of Jesse's parents, Newel Knight and Lydia Goldthwait Bailey in 1833; their journey to Utah, and the death of Newel Knight enroute; and Jesse's experiences when he worked as a farmhand in Montana. Jesse married Amanda McEwan and settled on a farm in Provo, Utah.
