Most of the letters in the collection were exchanged by Sewall Fullam and his wife between 1833 and 1876; many of these letters were written during the period Fullam represented Ludlow in the Vermont legislature. The oldest letter in the collection was written by Daniel Howe in 1776 to his wife, Eunice, while he was serving in the army at Ticonderoga. The Fullam's older son, Volney, served in the Civil War between May 1861 and August 1862. In the letters he and his mother exchanged during this period, he mentions "fatigue" after the Battle of Bull Run and shaking hands with President Lincoln. He also writes of having his "picture" taken in Washington (October 27, 1861). The miscellaneous series includes an undated, unsigned, holograph manuscript about the adventures of Thomas Gleason (or Gleeson), "a soldier of the Revolution," who was captured by and escaped from the Indians. According to the author of the manuscript, Gleason died in Cavendish, Vermont.

The International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union's reference files on the ILA consist of 5 linear feet of "everything we could get our hands on about the ILA", according to the union's librarian: handbills, contracts, proceedings, internal documents from negotiations, newspaper clippings from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Journal of Commerce and many other trade and labor papers. Of particular significance are the series of clippings files marked "Crime and Racketeering" and "AFL Relations" which cover the proceedings of the Crime Commission and the subsequent expulsion of the ILA from the AFL.
