Knox's collection contains a copy of chapters 2-6 of his memoirs Experiences as law clerk to Mr. Justice James C. McReynolds. There are also various memorabilia written or collected by Knox about the Supreme Court and the Civil War including letters from Gertrude Jenkins Regis about justices McReynolds, Stone, Frankfurter, and Douglas, material about former law clerk Harold Leventhal, and justice Holmes both as a soldier and justice. It also includes comments on McReynolds, Stone, Hughes and Frankfurter including a note from Stone to McReynolds, photos of Holmes, and an annotated table of contents to Knox's memoirs. There are also copies of letters from and comments or articles about Robert Todd Lincoln, Lincoln neighbor Isaac Diller, Giles Buckner Cooke, Grenville Mellen Dodge, and Charles A. deSaussure as well as a letter describing Malvern Hill; articles about Helen Keller, Samuel Insull, Edith Rockefeller McCormick, and the social security system; a note from William Howard Taft; a program cover from the 1980 Republican National Convention; and letters, 1840s, from the Frush family, Cass Co., Indiana pioneers.

This collection contains materials related to Platt's personal and professional lives, the bulk originating from Platt's office in the form of project drawings, photographs, and records documenting architectural projects from 1901-1933. Several earlier projects and projects completed by Platt's office after his death are also documented. A small group of drawings was created for publication only, and some drawings may have served as both project records and presentation drawings. The archive also contains typescript transcriptions of correspondence from Platt's travels to Europe in 1879 and from 1882-1886, as well as transcribed letters to his wife, Eleanor Hardy Bunker Platt, and a diary kept during his brief engagement as a member of the Food Administration in Italy after World War I. Additional papers include limited personal and professional correspondence. Lastly, the collection contains original glass plate negatives of photographs of Italian Renaissance gardens taken by Platt and/or his brother William Platt in the spring of 1892. Platt incorporated some of these images in ITALIAN GARDENS, published by Harper in 1894.

Incoming letters to Robertson, manuscript poetry and plays by Robertson, 6 scrapbooks pertaining to Robertson's career and miscellaneous items; plus a diary, autograph book, and letter relating to the family of his wife Anna Titus, an actress. Materials reflect Robertson's career as director of the Donald Robertson Company of Players, who performed at Fullerton Hall of the Art Institute of Chicago; as promoter and artistic director of the Chicago Woman's Club's Players' Theatre Association (later the Chicago Civic Theatre Association); and as dramatic director of the first season of the Chicago Theatre Society. A chief correspondent was Edith Rockefeller McCormick, sponsor and board member of the Chicago Civic Theatre Association and the Chicago Theatre Society. Other correspondents include Jane Addams, Arthur Bissell, Hamlin Garland, James O'Donnell Bennett, Louis H. Sullivan, Lorado Taft, Anna Titus, and Samuel Titus. Also present is a 1922 Lake View High School diploma.

Correspondence, military, and legal records of the Welling family. Also, accounts of Chicago society activities, particularly during the early 20th century. Collection contains significant accounts, written by Harriet Walker Welling, of early 20th century society functions in Chicago. These writings include descriptions of early Chicago, of Casino Club socials, and of Chicago notables (Edith Rockefeller McCormick and George Voevodsky). Additionally, there is correspondence detailing Harriet Walker Welling's contributions to the Smithsonian Institution, the Chicago Historical Society, the Athenaeum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The collection also includes records pertaining to John C. Welling and his son, John P. Welling. These records include the memorial book made upon John C. Welling's death, John P. Welling's military records, and records related to the legal ownership of John C. Welling's British Columbia lumber property. Some photographs are present.
