The Ron Bruno video footage of Pittsburgh contains 70 professionally shot 3/4 inch video reels of the Pittsburgh region taken between 1970 and 1990. The recordings were primarily used as file footage by Videohouse, a full-service production company, but also as requested stock footage by its clients. For instance, several of the tapes were commissioned by Duquesne Light Company to showcase the region in an attempt to promote new occupants to large industrial real estate sites that were no longer being used. Each tape contains approximately 20 minutes of raw color footage with sound depicting various scenes of Pittsburgh. These scenes include downtown Pittsburgh and its buildings, local steel mills, regional skylines, and neighborhood street scenes. Specifically there is footage of Pittsburgh regatta celebrations, Kennywood Amusement Park, the McConway-Torley plant, the Homestead stacks, and Pittsburgh International Airport. Helicopter footage shows barge activity along the three rivers around the Pittsburgh point. There are also interviews with local workers and businessmen, including a 1989 interview with Tom Forrester, and several 1990 factory visits by Governor Casey.

The publications primarily are national in scope and contain a number of pamphlet, monographic, and serial titles. The initiatives of the Pittsburgh Chapter primarily centered upon energy, labor, health care, social services, gay liberation, and political education. A significant component of the collection, the files of the People's Power Project, highlight the chapter's work in the area of energy.

Papers include correspondence, reports, news clippings, minutes, and publications. The majority of this collection relates to the study of air pollution in the United States and Allegheny County, Pa. Although material prior to 1970 in included, the majority of the material follows the passage of the Federal Clean Air Act of 1970. Reports studying the production of air pollution in the county constitute the majority of the material. There is little relating to Venable's personal life.
