College and Columbia University, the education of his son Oscar in Germany and Oscar's subsequent career as a geologist and Confederate Army officer, Oscar's views of the political, economic, and social life of S. C., the military services in the Union Army of Lieber's other sons, Hamilton and Norman, and the publication and editing of Lieber's works.
