Research materials include notes, lists of archival holdings, transcriptions, translations, and photostats of early Spanish, Mexican, and Texas documents. Personal and biographical materials include resumés, press releases, and financial records. Literary productions by others include both manuscripts and printed materials. Audiovisual materials include 8mm movies, photographs, phonodiscs, maps, and book illustrations. Materials from his time in Del Rio, his service with FEPC, his teaching and departmental activities, and his library and acquisitions work reflect his activities. Major correspondents include Eugene Barker, E.J. Burrus, J.T. Canales, Fred Chabot, Donald Coney, Eleuterio Escobar, Paul J. Foik, Chas. Hackett, E.E. Mireles, Alonso Perales, George I. Sánchez, and E.W. Winkler, among others. Among the ephemera is a collection of printers' marks dating from the early 16th century.

In this copy, Part I is called "Varias piezas del Orden Real," Part II, "Memorias de Mexico," and Part III, "Memorias Piadosas de la Nacion Indiana." Part I contains Sigüenza y Góngora's treatise on princely virtues (1680), Motolinía's story of three Tlaxcalan child martyrs (1791), and Father Zárate Salmerón's essay on the history of New Mexico and other regions, 1538-1626, "Relación de todas las cosas que en el Nuevo Megico se han visto," follwed by a letter (1778) from Father Vélez de Escalante to Morfi on the same subject. Part II, ca. 1654 to 1764, consists of reports and papers of Baltasar de Medina, Andrés de Rivas, Isidro Sariñana, Julián Gutiérrez Dávila, and others, relating primarily to the work of various religious orders in New Spain and the Philippines, and to drainage of the Mexico City area, with two maps of the City, one in color, ca. 1618. Part III deals with the Indians of New Spain, particularly from the religious standpoint, gives biographies of some outstanding Indians and accounts of miraculous apparitions seen by natives, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe. Compiled in 1782 by José Díaz de la Vega, a Franciscan.

A copy made by Manuel de Vega in 1792 of a collection of data which were the basis for Morfi's Historia de Texas. This material is divided into twelve books. The first presents a physical description of the province of Texas; the second describes the various tribes of Indians; and the remaining ten provide a chronological account of the history of Texas from 1672-1778. Detailed information is presented on the French and Spanish exploration of the Mississippi River, Louisiana, and Texas; Spanish occupancy of Texas; conflicts with the French and with the Indian tribes; and the establishment of the missions and their tribulations.
