Title: Proclamations of Ordination and Ministerial License of Moses Badger, 1766-1767.

These three documents were presented to Moses Badger (1743-1792) in London, where he was training for ministerial work under the auspices of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, in 1766 and 1767. Each of the documents has the seal of Richard Terrick, Bishop of London at that time, attached; this seal is blind embossed with traces of red paint. The first document, dated December 21, 1766, is a Proclamation of Ordination and documents Badger's ordination as a deacon. The second document, dated February 15, 1767, is also a Proclamation of Ordination and documents Badger's ordination as a priest. Both of these proclamations were issued at "the Chapel Royal at Saint James's Palace in Westminster" and are signed by Mark Holman, the Deputy Register. The third document is a ministerial license and was issued to Badger on February 23, 1767. This license authorizes him to practice "as a Minister or Priest in the province of New Hampshire in North America."
