Ledgers, journals, cash books, payrolls, sales journals, shipments, scrapbooks, letterbooks, and a small amount of unbound material. The earliest volume is a memo book of Walter Baker, containing notes taken at the Litchfield, Conn., Law School and copies of letters relating to the manufacture of woolens and of chocolate. Included in the collection are two account books (1843-1867) of Sidney B. Williams and two account books (1896-1900) of Josiah Webb & Co., makers of chocolate, Milton, Mass.

Title: Account book, 1792-1822.

Records transactions relating to the cost of ingredients, production and sale of chocolate from 1792 to 1822. There seem to have been various sizes of chocolate for the accounts list sales by boxes, half, and pounds. Also featured are lists of expenses incurred in expanding buildings and machinery. Accounts associated with building and decorating a house are in the back of the volume. References to expenses for Walter, suggest that the manuscript was kept by Edmund Baker. In 1807, the volume was used to record Walter's tuition and other fees at the university. Finally, a few entries pertain to work at a grist mill, amounts paid for reams of paper, and rent collected for rooms in a house.
