Title: Blanche Adams Ice papers, 1736-1951.

Consisting of correspondence, copies of wills and deeds (1700s-1800s), and genealogical notes recorded or collected by Blanche Adams Ice (Mrs. O.T. Ice) during the 1920s, 1940s, and 1950s in an effort to prove a relationship between Elizabeth Edwards Glazier, of Fairfield County, S.C., and members of the Edwards family who were involved in eighteenth-century land transactions in New York City. Much of the material in the collection is related to the Edwards Estate hoax, a legend in which heirs of Welshman, Robert Edwards and his brothers, Thomas and William Edwards, were believed to have lawful ownership of 77 acres of prime real estate on lower Manhattan Island, including land owned by Trinity Church. Heirs based their claim to this property on expiration of a 99 year lease granted in 1778 that was supposed to revert back to the family in 1877. Ice was unable to determine the ancestry of Virginia native Elizabeth Edwards Glazier, but she did document the military service of Glazier's husband, John Glazier in the Revolutionary War. Collection also includes 12 issues of a family newsletter, 1925-1927: Edwards Heirs : Published in the Interest of the Heirs of the Thomas Edwards and Robert Edwards Estates. Edwards of Winston, Mo.; Stella Everhart, of Sheffield, Ala.; Stone Ganong, of Memphis, Tenn.; Sallie Greene, of Birmingham, Ala.; Dr. Valentine King Irion, of New Orleans, La.; and Annie Shockley, of Birmingham, Ala.
