Willoughby Medical College. Records 1834-1848.

Title: Records 1834-1848.

Ohio General Assembly act of incorporation, including articles of incorporation, and minutes of meetings of the board of trustees, 1834-1847. The minutes include lists of board members, faculty members of the various colleges, students and fellows of the university, as well as texts recommended for students, motions and resolutions, resignations and appointments of professors, and by-laws of the faculty and board of trustees. Included are attempts to raise funds and descriptions of the medical college building erected in 1836. The minutes pertain largely to the affairs of the medical college, and reflect economic problems, faculty dissension and public charges of grave-robbing, which precipitated the faculty split in 1843 and the removal of the medical college to Columbus. Included are minutes of the Willoughby Female Seminary, 1847-48.
