Title: Jim Jam Jems magazine collection, 1912-1920 / Jim Jam Junior.

Written by the fictional Jim Jam Junior, Jim Jam Jems was an editorial newsmagazine published monthly in Bismarck, North Dakota, by Sam Clark. The magazine used sensationalism, propaganda, humor and satire to expose corruption and spread truth. The subtitle of each issue was A Volley of Truth. Subject matter was truly wide ranging, from the fight versus prostitution in Fargo (March 1912) and war with Mexico (July 1916), to abortion and infant mortality (August 1914. Under the guise of Jim Jam Junior, Sam Clark recorded his views regarding the Federal Reserve System in a 1922 book entitled The Federal Reserve Monster.

Chiefly documentation kept by Clark as head of the Association of Colored Railway Trainmen and Locomotive Firemen, including files (1945-1949) from the union's Norfolk and Western Railway Company Lodge No. 35 Grievance Committee. Materials include correspondence, speech, court opinion for Clark v. Norfolk and Western Railway Company, railroad rosters, clipping, and printed matter. Includes correspondence with Genna Rae McNeil and a portion of McNeil's dissertation concerning Charles Hamilton Houston and the right to work.

The United States Sanitary Commission established the Army and Navy Claim Agency (ANCA) in Washington, D.C. on April 1, 1864 to serve as the USSC’s central office to assist Union soldiers, sailors, and their families in prosecuting claims on the federal government for pensions, back pay, bounty, commutation of rations, prize money, and other benefits, without cost. The Army and Navy Claim Agency Archives comprise the records of the Army and Navy Claim Agency; the records of the Pension Agency, its predecessor organization; the registers and cash books of its subsidiary local agencies; and the records of two quasi-independent USSC claim agencies whose origins predate the establishment of the Army and Navy Claim Agency: the Protective War Claim Association of the State of New York, located in New York City, and the Protective War Claim and Pension Agency, located in Philadelphia.

Title: Sam Clark's Red ink magazine collection, 1934-1935.

The Sam Clark's Red Ink Magazine Collection consists of seven editorial newsmagazines published by Sam Clark. Clark ran Red Ink Publishers in Bismarck, and was responsible for Red Ink, an anti-William Langer magazine. An important theme running through the magazines was the notion that Clark was bestowing "the truth" upon his readers, and was combatting Langer's lies and propaganda. Each issue of Red Ink was filled with both satire and political analysis. The first folder of the Red Ink Collection consists of one copy of an editorial newsmagazine entitled Red Ink's Pictorial Review of the Langer Administration. This magazine was a special issue and published before the November 1934 election. The remaining six folders in the collection contains Sam Clark's Red Ink, Volleys of Truth, published on a monthly basis; each issue was 64 pages in length, and consisted almost exclusively of editorials and articles.
