Specific material regards his collaboration with Jon Webb in the creation of two poetry books for Loujon Press: It Catches My Heart in its Hands, and Crucifix in a Deathhand. Edwin James Blair's historical background to these activities is included, as well as biographical and exhibition material about Noel Rockmore, who created etchings for Crucifix in a Deathhand. Correspondence from Bukowski to the Webbs sometimes includes drawings and collages. The collection also has some of his color and ink drawings, including five self-portraits, as well as photographs of him and the Webbs.

Title: Papers, 1944-1977 (bulk 1960-1977)

Consists mainly of Bukowski's books and chapbooks, as well as periodical publications that contain his writings. The finding aid indexes 71 other contemporary writers represented in these periodicals, including Diane Wakoski and Fielding Dawson. Jim Roman, book-seller, is the primary correspondent, 1964-1974, both with Bukowski, and with other people about him. Some letters contain material relating to colleagues Jon Edgar Webb and his Loujon Press, and also John Martin of the Black Sparrow Press. Additional correspondence, as well as poetry, stories, and drawings are from Bukowski to Darlene Fife and Robert Head, of the New Orleans underground newspaper, Nola Express, from 1967-1973. Also contains unpublished poetry and prose manuscripts; drawings and cartoons; reviews; photographs; and audio cassettes of Bukowski reading his works. Drawings include self-portraits, and are done in acrylics, watercolor, ink, and pencil. Ephemera consists of poetry postcards, broadsides, flyers, and posters; some are signed by Bukowski.

Correspondents include Jay Allen, George Anthiel, Marcel Duhamel, Ethel Feutress Gardner, Carol Hemingway, Grace Hall Hemingway, Pauline Hemingway, Joseph Losey, Maxwell E. Perkins, Hadley Richardson and Jon Edgar Webb. The writings consist of galley proofs for the Old Man and the Sea, various autograph note fragments, press cuttings, publisher's announcements, and printed blurbs. The photograph section includes 17 photographs and 4 photo-negatives of Hemingway, 1 photograph of John Dos Passos, and snapshots of Italian soldiers and a bullfight. Other material included in this collection consist of bills of sale, itemized receipts, fan mail, a 1937 Spanish driver's license, high school dance card, school assignments and notes, and various publications about bullfighting and big game hunting.

Correspondence documents associations Williams had with collaborators for projects for The Jargon Society and with other publishers. Correspondents include Dana Winslow Atchley, Thomas A. Clark, Ian Gardner, Michael Loeb, Tom Phillips, U. Grant Roman, David Ruff, Henry Holmes Smith, Jon Edgar Webb, and Henry Weaning. Manuscripts and galley proofs document projects related to Williams. This includes a description of the ceramic art of Arnold Ward written by Williams in 1949, and the graphic design work of Dana Winslow Atchley for Jonathan Williams and Nicholas Dean, Blues & Roots, Rue & Bluets (1971) and a manuscript by Michael McClure for Passage (1957) published by The Jargon Society. Artwork documents illustration material created, used, or considered by Williams in his personal projects or works published by The Jargon Society, as well as works by artists associated with him and the press. Artists include Fielding Dawson, Thomas Reuben George, Barbara Mildred Jones, David Ruff, and Paul Sinodhinos.
