The Jack Gelber Papers reflect their creator's career as a writer, director and teacher of American theatre. Much of the collection is composed of Gelber's correspondence and writing, particularly his plays. The collection also holds a smaller amount of records dedicated to a number of the theatre productions and workshops he directed which included performances of his own works. However there are few documents concerning his career as an instructor. As a whole the collection contains substantial quantities of correspondence, typescript drafts, handwritten notes, printed advertisements, and clippings along with a few journal entries, audiotapes, and videocassettes.

Title: Paul Auster collection of papers 1987-2001 1995-1999

The archive comprises material related to the publication of six novels in preparation by Auster during this period; material related to the publication of five nonfiction monographs; and material related to the production of several films. Also here is material related to the National Public Radio broadcast of The National Story Project. The stories submitted for this project were later collected in I Thought My Father Was God, edited by Auster, and also documented here. Additional material includes drafts of four plays, material related to the composition of two poetry monographs, material related to several works of translation, and a baseball game Auster invented. Material written by others, including creative adaptations and scholarly analysis of his work, is also included here.
