Diary, 1782-1783, while a student at Yale and while a teacher in Lebanon, Conn., in 1797-1798; the former includes an account, dated April 24, 1783, of the celebration of peace with the ringing of bells and the firing of cannons and skyrockets; the latter describes a July 4, 1798 oration by Solomon Williams.

Title: Dyar T. Hinckley diary, 1784-1785.

Daily record kept by a student at Yale College, in which he noted the Sunday preacher and the main points of the sermon, other sermons and lectures he attended, class debates, examinations, and the weather. Hinckley was born in Lebanon, Connecticut, and spent most of his life there. Although he studied for the ministry, he preferred teaching.
