The Brisbane Library History Collection includes images of historical interest to Brisbane, San Francisco and San Mateo County. The collection includes images from the mid-1800s to the present, with the majority of the images from the 1900s to the 1980s. These images document commercial, residential and public buildings (such as Brisbane Elementary School), San Bruno Mountain, historic and annual events (notably the Fourth of July celebrations and the Western Days parade), street scenes, small town life, group and family portraits, and significant individuals. The collection illustrates the diverse nature of Brisbane residents and records the changes that have taken place in the community.

Consists of the papers of Richard Mercer Dorson, 1916-1981, Indiana University professor and internationally renowned folklorist. The correspondence section, consisting of approximately 14,500 items arranged chronologically, documents Dorson's determination to turn the American Folklore Society and American folklore studies away from amateurism toward rigorous scholarship. The correspondence also shows Dorson's wide network of national and international relationships established with numerous scholars over the years. Writings in the collection are divided into those by Dorson and those by other folklorists, historians, and colleagues. Fieldwork and research materials in the collection include notes, transcriptions, and field tapes. Dorson's Indiana University related files include materials for the Folklore Institute, the Folklore Archives, the Archives of Traditional Music, the History Department, and various university committees. Also here are papers of folklore and history students, dissertation materials, and Dorson's class notes.

Professor of American literature, Duke University, Durham, N.C. The Jay B. Hubbell Papers span the years from 1816 to 1998, with the bulk of the material documenting Hubbell's career from his early student years in the 1920s until his death in 1979. The collection consists mainly of his professional papers, including correspondence with colleagues and literary figures, articles written by others at his request for the Jay B. Hubbell Center, printed materials inscribed to him and written by him, and unpublished manuscripts. The material chronicles the four decades of Hubbell's career as professor and critic, which he dedicated to the growth and development of American literature as a field of critical inquiry. Among the many significant correspondents or subjects of others' writings are Conrad Aiken, Gay Wilson Allen, Robert Frost, Clarence Gohdes, members of the Hubbell family, Ralph Leslie Rusk, Carl Sandburg, Allen Tate, Arlin Turner, and John Hall Wheelock.
