Scrapbook, mostly of newpaper clippings, relating to the interests of H. Leslie Lyman. Chiefly, he was interested in promoting the growing of fruit, espcially apples and grapes, in Virginia. A number of clippings relate to the meetings of the Virginia State Pomological Convention (for which Lyman served as secretary), the Farmers' Assembly of Virginia, and the American Pomological Society (Lyman was Virginia's representative to this organization). There are several bulletins from the University of California about the cultivation of grapes. There is also some information about livestock, particularly horses. There are repair price lists for agricultural machinery sold under the brand names Planet, Jr., Fire-fly, and Tornado; chemical analyses of the products of the Monticello Wine Company; information about planting bulbs and growing flowers from the Burpee Co.; an 1853 train schedule for the Buffalo and Rochester Rail Road, and other miscellaneous items.
