The Gary Snyder Papers document the personal and professional activities of Gary Snyder (1930- ), poet, essayist, translator, Zen Buddhist, environmentalist, lecturer, and teacher. Snyder is considered one of the most significant environmental writers of the twentieth century and a central figure in environmental activism. He wrote more than twenty books of poetry and prose including his forty-year work and for which he won the 1975 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. The collection spans the years 1910-2003 (1945-2002 bulk) and continues to grow. Drafts as well as final versions of poems and prose pieces are found in the collection along with correspondence, recordings of poetry readings and interviews, subject files, manuscripts and publications by other authors, serials, ephemera, and memorabilia. Collection contains materials collected by Slonimsky throughout his lifetime that document his life and work as musicologist, composer, conductor, lecturer and author. Included are personal biographical materials; Slonimsky's writings (drafts, typescripts, reprints, etc.) of newspaper, periodical, journal, and magazine articles, record liner notes, radio broadcasts, and talks, published and unpublished; music composed by Slonimsky, manuscript and printed; concert programs; correspondence, among many others, with Henry Cowell, Alexandre Gretchaninoff, Roy Harris, Charles Ives, and Edgar Varèse; biographical materials on composers and performers mosly generated when Slonimsky was editing Baker's and The international cyclopedia; music collected by Slonimsky, manuscript and printed and multi-composer collections; among the manuscripts are many short holographic works and fragments; scrapbooks; and iconographical material, such as family photographs an those of composers and musicians from the former Soviet Union, as well as little known musicians from the United States and elsewhere.

Yaddo is an artists' community located in Saratoga Springs, New York. The Yaddo Records contain the administrative records of The Corporation of Yaddo since its establishment in 1900, as well as the institutional records of Yaddo from 1926, the year Yaddo began accepting guests. Notable guests have included Newton Arvin, John Cheever, Aaron Copland, Malcom Cowley, Leonard Bernstein, Truman Capote, Carson McCullers, Langston Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Katherine Anne Porter, and Clyfford Still. The Yaddo Records also include the personal papers of Yaddo's principal founders, Spencer and Katrina Trask, and George Foster Peabody.

These noncommercial acetate disc recordings were collected by Schillinger, and in many instances recorded by him as well. Works by Schillinger in the collection include many of his piano compositions and improvisations. Other composers prominently represented include Will Bradley, Carmine Coppola, Henry Cowell, Clarence Cox, Rosalino De Maria, Belle Fenstock, Edwin Gerschefski, George Gershwin, Lyn Murray, and Lazar Weiner.

The Aaron Copland Collection consists of published and unpublished music by Copland and other composers, correspondence, writings, biographical material, datebooks, journals, professional papers including legal and financial material, photographs, awards, art work, and books. Of particular interest is the correspondence with Nadia Boulanger, which extent over 50 years, and with his long-time friend, Harold Clurman. Other significant correspondents are Leonard Bernstein, Paul Bowles, Benjamin Britten, Carlos Chávez, David Diamond, Roy Harris, Charles Ives, Claire Reis, Arnold Schoenberg, Roger Sessions, and Virgil Thomsom. The photographic collection of Copland's friend and confidant Victor Kraft, a professional photographer, forms part of the collection.
