Debt accounts include amount forwarded to American Exchange Bank in New York for July 1856 interest installment; a list of various certificates of indebtedness purchased by state and canceled (1849-1856) under an act approved February 12, 1849; a record of coins shipped to New York for two-mill tax payment (1857-1858); and a brief abstract of state indebtedness purchased (1852-1853). Volume also includes a rough abstract of payments made to county agricultural societies (1855-1857); Executive Mansion construction receipt and disbursement statements (June 1854-Feb. 1856); and State House grounds improvement accounts (March 1854-November 1856).

Four consecutive letterpress copybooks containing more than 2000 of Austin's letters relating mostly to his financial dealings in western land from 1900-1912. He transacted most of his business through banks and real estate agents in the respective states, though a number of this dealings were directly with interested individuals. Principal correspondents are: F. G. Barrows, B. F. Brown, G. K. Gilbert, William E. Harrington, H. H. Talcott, Cyrus Walts, H. G. McGee, the American Exchange Bank (New York City), Bank of Glencoe (Minnesota), Bell Investment Company (Minneapolis), Citizens National Bank (Wahpeton, N.D.), First National Bank (Albert Lea, Minn.).

Included are 60 photographs, approximately half of which show architectural drawings and models of the New York State Capitol at Albany, and views of the Capitol under construction, circa 1860s-1880s. These primarily show the work of Eidlitz, Richardson and Company, who designed the Capitol. Projects of Fuller and Laver and I. G. Perry for the Capitol are also depicted. The rest of the photographs show other projects by Leopold Eidlitz and his firm including the American Exchange Bank, New York City, 1857; Broadway Tabernacle, New York City, 1859; the Continental Bank, New York City, 1856; the Cooper Union, New York City, circa 1886; Dry Dock Savings Bank, New York City, 1875; and Temple Emanu-El, New York City, 1868. Also, unidentified buildings, and buildings by other architects, including Cyrus W. Eidlitz (Association of the Bar of New York, Main Library, New York City, 1895), and Robert H. Robertson (Phillips Presbyterian Church, New York City, 1874). Two original drawings by Eidlitz of Christ Church, St. Louis, Missouri, circa 1859, and a competition design for the New York City Crystal Palace, circa 1852.
