The entire collection spans the years from 1917 to 1992 but the bulk of the material covers the thirty years from 1945 to 1975. The strength of this collection rests on the meticulous records by both Charlton Ogburn Jr. and his parents concerning their quest for the "true" identity of William Shakespeare. The collection also includes material related to Ogburn's work in foreign affairs, writings, correspondence, and family papers.

Include correspondence, manuscripts, and photographs. Halle chiefly discusses his writing, philosophy, travels, and bird watching. Topics include a trip to Guatemala, 1936-1937, including a visit to a coffee plantation, a climb up to the Agua crater, and especially an expedition to the ruins of Tikal and Uaxactum; and discussions of Ogburn's theory on the Earl of Oxford-Shakespeare controversy. Topics also include the art of writing and his writing, particularly "Men and nations," "Out of chaos," "The search for an eternal norm, "The road to Avalon," and an article "Materialism and the post war world" for which the manuscript is present; his agnosticism, philosophy of life, and speculation on the future; and bird watching, including an expedition to the Shetland Islands. The collection consists of papers of John Donald Wade and the Wade family from 1857-1963. Early materials (1857-1912) contain land grants and correspondence of the Wade family including John Daniel and Ida Anne, John Donald Wade's parents. The bulk of the collection pertains to Wade's involvement with and writings of the Agrarian concept, the Georgia Review, and the Marshallville Foundation, a beautification and improvement organization in Marshallville, Georgia.
