This collection, comprising a range of material including manuscripts, clippings, and autograph letters, documents the public life of Victor Champier, particularly his career from the 1870s through the first decade of the 20th century. An active promoter of the decorative arts, Champier edited L'Année artistique, founded and directed La Revue des arts décoratifs, was involved with the creation of the Union central des arts décoratifs and the founding of France's Musée des arts décoratifs, and was a key figure in planning the Expositions universelles of 1889 and 1900.

A group of unrelated letters, presumably drawn from an autograph collection, ranging in date from 1822-1942. Though the letters are largely incidental in nature, there is some discussion of travel in the letters of Adolphe Didron (1839) and Emile Esperandieu (1925). One letter of Jean-Baptiste Le Chevalier addressed to a duchess in Paris concerns two papers on the solar system presented to the Societe Royale by Herschell (1822). Other correspondents include Germain Bapst (1900), Ernst Curtius (1844?), Jane Dieulafoy (1888, 1895), Louis de La Saussaye (1834), Gaston Maspero (1864) and Francisque Michel (1844).
