Martin-Harvey was an English actor, producer and theatre manager.
English actor and manager, Martin-Harvey received his greatest critical acclaim for the role of Oedipus Rex, though he was best known for his romantic roles in melodrama.
Biography
Sir John Martin-Harvey (1863-1944) was an English actor-manager and member of Henry Irving's Lyceum Theatre company in London for fourteen years before inaugurating his own management of the Lyceum in 1899. His performances included parts in: The Only Way, A Cigarette Maker's Romance, The Breed of Treshams, and Oedipus Rex, among others.
