Biographical History

The schooner Selim, of New Orleans, was a supply ship during the Mexican War, and also served as a pilot ship in Vera Cruz in 1848. Under Captain Joseph N. Batson, the Selim arrived in Vera Cruz a week after Scott captured the city in 1847. The Selim operated as a general supply ship out of Vera Cruz, with runs to both Frontera, Mexico, and New Orleans. The Selim was sold by Batson on August 14, 1848.

From the description of Log of the schooner Selim during the Mexican War, 1847-1848. (Unknown). WorldCat record id: 702139129
