Biographical History
John Walker was born 15 August 1785 at "Locust Grove" in King and Queen County, Virginia, to Humphrey Walker (1762-1820) and Frances Temple Walker (ca. 1760-1824). John Walker moved to Tennessee in the 1810s, before returning to King and Queen County in 1819. He became a successful planter, inheriting "Chatham Hill" from his mother's family. After the death of a brother, he also became owner of "Locust Grove." Walker married Margaret Shepherd (1804-1886), and they had 7 children. John Walker died 27 February 1867.
