Paul Fleischman, children's author, was born in California in 1952. Albert Sidney Fleischman, his father, is an author of children's books and the younger Fleischman always considered writing books for children as a profession. In high school he developed a strong interest in classical music. Reflecting his interest in sound, his emphasis in writing books is on the lyric and rhythmic quality of the words. Among his published works are several award winners including The Half-A-Moon Inn (Golden Kite Honor Book, 1981), Graven Images: Three Stories (Newbery Honor Book, 1983) and Path of the Pale Horse (Golden Kite Honor Book, 1984).
