Biographical History

Rose Emmet Young (1869–1941) was born in Montana. As a writer, she contributed to magazines and editorials under the pen name R.E. Young; her work was published in Harper's McClure's, Collier's, the Atlantic Monthly. In 1899 Young moved to New York City to work on the staff of the New York Evening Post. In 1915, she was hired by the National American Women Suffrage Association's Carrie Chapman Catt to direct the Leslie Bureau of Suffrage Education. While there she created and supervised the Woman Citizen magazine.
