George Heister was involved in the theater in America throughout much of the 19 century, and worked with many of its prominent figures.

Augustin Daly was an American playwright, producer, and theater manager. He began as a critic, then adapted or translated European plays; he was renowned for his Shakespearean productions. He later wrote his own succesful plays, which were much imitated. Daly formed his own prestigious acting company, and opened Daly's Theatre in New York and London. His productions were famous for their attention to detail.
