Biographical History
The American Psychological Association Division of School Psychologists (APA Division 16) was founded on September 12, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio during the 52nd annual APA Convention. The name was changed to Division of School Psychology in 1969. The founding and organization of this division reflected the progressive changes taking place within APA at this time, which included representation of the various specializations in psychology. The founding of Division 16 accompanied the reorganization of APA as a whole in 1944 and 1945. The Division of School Psychologists was one of 19 original APA divisions.
