Biographical History

Ray Morgan (born June 11, 1922) grew up in Topeka, Kansas, where he developed a strong interest in the activities of the statehouse and its environs. Later, his interest in politics and journalism prompted him to attend the University of Kansas School of Journalism, and Washburn University where he received a degree in political science. As a member of the Topeka Daily Capital's staff he became Assistant Manager of the Kansas Press Association, President of the Topeka Press Club and President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. In June, 1951, he joined the staff of the Kansas City Times filling in special assignments, and in 1963, he became the K.C. Star's Kansas correspondent. In that capacity he has had a wide association with political, educational, governmental and civic leaders throughout the state. He has covered sessions of the Kansas legislature periodically since 1949, as well as state and national political conventions, sessions of the national and mid-west governor's conferences, and Washington affairs.
