William Bulluck King was a native of Florence, S.C.; King joined Associated Press staff in Columbia, S.C., 1936; named A.P. Columbia bureau chief, 1938; joined A.P. New York cable department, Nov. 1940; sent to Europe in Dec. 1940, covering WWII from Bern, Madrid, London, North Africa, Ankara, Rome, Athens, Belgrade, and Sofia; published "The Balkans: Frontier of Two Worlds" with Frank O'Brien, 1947; head of European Public Relations for UNICEF, Paris, 1949-1950; began twenty-year career with USIA as Press Officer for U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, 1951-1953; Press Officer for U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India, 1954-1956.

King next served as Foreign Affairs Officer for the Near East and South Asia, Washington, D.C., 1956-1958; served on Richards' Mission to the Middle East, 1957; Public Affairs Officer for U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, 1958-1959; served on USIA Overseas Inspection Corps, 1959-1960; Assistant Director for Near East and South Asia, Washington, D.C., 1960-1963; Counselor of Embassy for Public Affairs in Karachi, Pakistan, 1963-1965; Counselor for Public Affairs in London, 1965-1969; Ombudsman, Washington, D.C., 1969-1971; retired from USIA in 1971.

Married first to Frances Guignard Gibbes Keith (1913-2001), daughter of Oscar Lovell Keith (1882-1935) and Frances Guignard Gibbes (1870-1948); two daughters, Frances Guignard Gibbes King (1932-1948), and Margaret "Marnie" Rives King (1935-1980); married second to Fay Cornelia Ball (1909-1986); brother of Margaret "Mary" Langston King (1907-1978).

(graduated 1927); employed by American Theatre Wing as Assistant Director of Public Relations and Publicity (1943-1946), Furniture World magazine as Editor (1944-1945), Isadora Reed Bennett as Publicity Assistant (1947-1949), Schiaperalli of Paris as Press Representative (1949-1950); actress in stage productions in Columbia, S.C., New York, N.Y., and Charleston, S.C., and in early television plays on NBC.

F.C.B. King was wife of William Bulluck King; sister of Katharine Ball Ripley (1898-1955) and Eleanor Ball Hewitt-Myring (1902-2003); aunt of Warren Ripley; daughter of William Watts Ball (1868-1952); granddaughter of Beaufort Watts Ball (1830-1902) and of Charles Otto Witte (1823-1908).
