Biographical History
Fifty Million Fund was the name given to a capital campaign launched by the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. Capital Needs Campaign Committee in 1965 in response to a survey conducted by the General Council's Commission on Capital Needs. Contributions were handled by the Central Receiving Agency of the General Council; The United Presbyterian Foundation handled gifts of securities. Most of the major boards of the church participated. Campaigns were conducted by area, not simultaneously, during 1965-1967; most fund-raising was completed by 1968 and the Committee was discharged. Follow-up was directed by the Office of the General Assembly.
