Biographical History

John Milton Holley (1777-1836), known as Milton, and his younger brother, Myron Holley (1779-1841), were born in Salisbury, Conn. Both received an education at Williams College: Milton did not graduate, leaving the college to help his father in his merchant's business, while Myron received his degree in 1799. Milton went on to establish the firm of Holley and Coffing, a prominent iron operation. Myron became a member of the New York Canal Commission and publisher of the Rochester Freeman.
