Biographical History
Brigham Young University Treasury Services is a division of Financial Services. Treasury Services manages all banking relationships and invests financial assets to provide capital appreciation and income from interest and dividends as directed by the Investment Committee. They handle all cash receipts, disbursements, trust obligations, securities, check-cashing services and accounts receivable for campus departments. They also collect student tuition and fees, process student billings, and collect delinquent accounts. In addition, they process and compile budget requests and information to assist in budget reviews at the university level, with CES Administration, and the Church Budget Committee.
A department of motion picture production was created at Brigham Young University in 1953; this was the forerunner of the current LDS Motion Picture Studio in Provo. In 1963 BYU President Ernest Wilkinson boasted that the church university was one of only two universities in the nation with a film production department (the other being the University of Southern California). During this period, under the leadership of Wetzel "Judge" Whitaker, numerous films were created at BYU of a doctrinal or historical character.
