Biographical History

Eleanor Eyre Hunt was born in 1844 to William (1797-1867) and Mary (McCord) Hunt, the sixth of eleven siblings. According to U.S. census data, William Hunt was a farmer, who owned a home and land in Moorefield (near Springfield), until his death in 1867, when his eldest son, William, became head of household. Eleanor, also called variously "Ella," "Ellen," "Ellie," and "Nellie" in her autograph album, remained at the house until her death in 1926. She did not marry, and is listed as the head of the household on the 1900, 1910, and 1920 censuses, living with two of her sisters, Rose and Virginia, and several farmhands and boarders.

From the description of Eleanor E. Hunt autograph album, 1857-1916 (bulk 1857-1862) (Unknown). WorldCat record id: 699852704
