Biographical History
Committee appointed to make recommendations on the widening of Main Street, Concord, Mass., on the south side, largely in response to William Munroe's plan to build a library for the town at the intersection of Main Street and Sudbury Road. Munroe planned the project and arrived at an estimate ($5,000). The Middlesex County Commissioners agreed to pay 2/5 of the cost; another 1/5 was to be raised through private subscriptions, and the remaining 2/5 to be appropriated from municipal taxes.
(Cont.) The committee of three consisted of Frederic Hudson, Reuben N. Rice, and Henry F. Smith. The printed municipal town report for 1871-1872 includes their report.
