Samuel Thompson may be the same who founded the "Freethinking Christians."
English resident; perhaps the founder of the "Freethinking Christians."
Samuel Thompson became a linesman with the Electric Telegraph Service on Cape York Peninsula. He was killed in a riding accident at Musgrave, North Queensland on 2nd January 1919. The name of the goldfield was confirmed from: "Official Handbook of the Territory of New Guinea administered by the Commonwealth of Australia under mandate from the Council of the League of Nations". Canberra: Commonwealth government Printer, (1937). P.221.
