Bernard Waber was born on September 21, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia College of Art from 1946-1950 and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts from 1950-1951. He married Ethel Berstein in 1952 and has four children. He is the award winning author and illustrator of dozens of children's books. Waber began his artistic career as a commercial artist for Conde Nast Publications and Seventeen.
