Susan Burrows Swan began her career at Winterthur Museum in 1961 as a senior guide and then became assistant registrar in 1970, associate registrar in 1975, associate curator in charge of textiles in 1979, and curator in 1987. She retired on June 30, 1991. Mrs. Swan lectured widely and authored or co-authored several books and numerous articles on needlework.
